Dear Collins Hill High School Parents/Guardians:
I would like to share with you precautions that we are taking on Friday in response to a potential threat that was reported by parents and several students. We have received calls expressing concern about a text that has been retweeted that refers to plans to carry out a violent act at school. As is the nature of social media, this initial message has been shared throughout the community, raising concerns. We have reported this situation to the police who are working with school leaders to actively investigate all reports that have been shared with us. At this time, we have nothing to substantiate this threat. That said, we will be taking additional precautions tomorrow and will have additional security on campus.
I appreciate the calls and emails we have received about this situation. It is important that students and parents share any concerns they have about texts or posts they see via social media. When we learn of potential threats, we are diligent in tracking these rumors down and assessing their validity, while ensuring we maintain a safe school atmosphere. As part of our investigation, we also are committed to ensuring those who issue a threat face appropriate consequences.
As always, I thank you for working with us to ensure we offer a safe school community for our students. I know this is a priority we all share. We appreciate your continued support of our school and students!
